Create specific URL to change default view 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have just pass through the Wiki but I did not find what I was looking for.
I have only got this result:

http://www5.beyond2020.com/index.php/component/option,com_mambowiki/Itemid,136/

My question is:
Is it possible to create manual URL including specific selection of dimension's item?

For exemple:

In our WDS we publish this table on total trade in merchandise, default measure is "US$ in millions".
http://unctadstat.unctad.org/TableViewer/tableView.aspx?ReportId=101

I would like to have the possibility to create an URL to open an other measure without having to create specific report or change my default view.

Could you please help us?

Thank you.

Hello UNCTAD,

out of the box, it is not possible to create a manual URL to include specific selection of dimension items. I think the best option would still be to create 2 reports from the same IVT file, one report with (Percentage of Total World) and the other report with the (US$ in Millions) at the end of the report name.

Having the 2 reports does not double the amount of maintenance work, since both reports are automatically updated just by updating the one file those reports are linking to. And in this configuration, you are giving your user base some choice on viewing the data with different vies.

Or you could always create the report with the different measure as a hidden report, and create a URL link to the hidden report. That way you can link to the report with the dimension items you have pre-selected, and it wouldn't show up in the report folders view.

Those are the easy workarounds. The other option is to build some form of blended report template that would allow you to pre select the dimension items and it would link you to the table with the preselection, this is not done via a pre-defined URL, but through a POST command.

Or we could customize some Javascript to achieve the results that you desire.

I think if you can provide us with more information, we can surely find a way to assist you. I am curious as to why you wouldn't want to create another report with a different view, even a hidden report to achieve your objectives. And are you planning a front end to reach the reports other than the reports folder view? If so, what technology are you planning to use for that front end?

Thank you very much for your quick answer.
We will think about all these alternatives...

Thank again.
