Statistical Agencies

National and international statistical agencies publish large qualtities of often unrelated summary statistics based on statistical surveys. While the volume of data is vast, depending on the organization and the subjects of the surveys, the scale of the publishing effort may be large or small. Moreover, as the target market for the data can be quite varied, a statistical rather than a business-based presentation paradigm is more appropriate.

Non-Government Organizations

Non-government organizations, often as a bi-product of their “street” activities, collect or aggregate data in support of internal research, public information campaigns, or servicing of sister organizations. Their multi-dimensional datasets are often small, focused, and need to be delivered with little or no IT resources.

Government Departments

While national statistical agencies dominate the collection, summary and publishing of public information in certain parts of the world, national and regional government departments manage these activities elsewhere. Moreover, in addition to publishing survey results, these organizations also collect transactions (e.g. crime, fire, crash, workplace injury incidents), and publish multi-dimensional summaries for large stakeholder communities.
