Universities need to provide access to institutional data for planning and decision making.  Often these data requests become the responsibility of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR), in delivering these reports to a diverse group of data users; which could includes the university management team and President’s Office, Provincial, State and Federal government stakeholders, as well as to the public consumption, likely through  the Institution’s Factbook; for prospective students, their parents and researchers. These requests are often time consuming and unplanned and can further delay research projects.  In delivering these data requests, the OIR needs a flexible, dynamic, secure, yet easy to use tool, for providing access to institutional data in a timely manner. 

A solution combining Microsoft’s Analysis Services™ and Beyond 20/20’s Perspective™ application is providing a number of Education Institutions with a delivery platform for their Institutional Research needs.  This web-based solution provides tailored access to the data, allowing individuals to create their own custom ad hoc report, delivering the most relevant information to them, while requiring only minimal resources for data publishing and user administration.
